Someday

Someday I won’t be awaken at 2:00am when a little one has a nightmare.

Someday I won’t step on legos scattered about my living room floor.

Someday I won’t hear arguing in the other room about who gets to be inside the tent.

Someday I won’t hear cries and screams.

Someday I won’t be warming up milk in sippy cups.

Someday I won’t be doing 3+ loads of laundry a day.

Someday I won’t be making mickey mouse shaped pancakes.

Someday I won’t be carpooling.

Someday I won’t be hearing cartoons on Saturday morning.

Someday I won’t have to buckle and unbuckle car seats.

Someday I won’t be late for everything.

Someday my kids will be all grown up.

Someday.

….but not today!

Flower Crayons

Coloring is fun.

I’ll be the first the admit, crayons and a new coloring book are underrated for adults! The littles and I did a fun thing with our crayons this week, I just had to share.

To make your own Crayon molds:

First sort the crayons.

Then peal all the paper off each one.

TIP:  Save those crayons your littles get with their Kid’s Menu at Restaurants!  Those are usually cheap crayons and the paper is much easier to peal off than Crayola’s paper.

After the crayons are pealed, break them into little pieces. This is the fun part! I used Silicon flower molds, but you could also use muffin tins.

Next mix and match your crayons.
My daughter was excited to make rainbow crayons.  So we did some rainbow and some with solid colors.

Now the fun part of baking your crayon molds. We baked ours at 250 degrees for 30 min. Be sure to check on your molds periodically, around every 10 min.  You will know they are done when the crayons are completely melted.  They will harden as they cool.

TIP: I took out the crayon pieces to spray each silicon mold with non-stick spray before baking.

When your molds have finished baking, let them cool for 20 minutes (or until hardened).  Pop them out and enjoy.

Natural Cleaners

Have you ever made your own cleaner?

I’ll give you three good reasons why we do:

Economical

Easy

Environmentally Friendly

White distilled vinegar is an effective for killing most mold, bacteria, and germs due to its level of acidity. Cleaning with white distilled vinegar is a smart way to avoid using harsh chemicals.”
Here are the two recipes I use and keep all over my home!

Everyday Vinegar Solution
Half vinegar
Half water

Window & Glass Cleaner
1 cup of strong black tea
3 TBS vinegar

Homemade Playdough

Here are two fun Playdough recipes I use.

Nature’s Playdough

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 pkg of Kool-Aid (any flavor)
Food coloring

  • Mix flour, salt, tartar, Kool-Aid and oil, and slowly add the water.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring until dough becomes stiff.
  • Turn out onto wax paper and let cool.
  • Knead the playdough with your hands until of proper consistency. Use as is, or divide into balls and add a few drops of food coloring.

Store in an air-tight container.  Will generally last 4 – 6 weeks.

Tip: Use a few tsp of pumpkin spice or nutmeg when making playdough in the winter months for festive smelling dough!
