Ready for some transparency and openness?
Grab your favorite cup of joe (or tea!) and read with me as I embark on something that is going to challenge me in all areas.
For the past 5 years I’ve been either pregnant or nursing. No, I’m not complaining, it has become a wonderful experience for me and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. But the truth is I’ve given in to areas of weakness one too many times and it has now become a lifestyle. It’s time for me to once again be in control and not let my life, my weight, my house, my family just happen.
I must be intentional.
I must be proactive.
It must start now.
Our very precious Jordan is now four and a half months old, so I don’t really feel I can hide behind the “just had a baby” excuse anymore. That’s an easy one for me to hide behind especially when it comes to how I eat, exercising, cleaning and organizing my house, and being the wife and mother I know the Lord has made me to be. Since Jordan is my 3rd, I can say with confidence that I’ve been to this baby circus before I know what happens and how to make it work for me. ***It’s just getting down, getting dirty and doing it that’s my issue***

Jordan and I have found our schedule – she’s my girl when it comes to that! Her shut eye consists of 3 naps during the day and 11 hours at night, so NO COMPLAINTS THERE! It’s my life in every other department that needs a bit of tweaking – not to mention the Grace of God.
When you feel overwhelmed, go back to the basics that make you happy.
For me, that begins with my daily time with the Lord (as well as organizing my home base). I need to be filled with the Word, I need to worship on a daily basis and I need to rest in His sweetness if I’m ever going to have any love, joy or peace for my family.
I also want my home to be organized, not immaculate, just efficient. There are closets, drawers, and systems that need to be cleaned, organized and put in place.
I want to give my very best to everything I do. To quote My Favorite Everything:
I want to have nice meals on the table for my family, not complicated, just healthy.
I want my kids clothes to be clean, not the nicest brands, just clean.
I want to be a good wife to my husband – be someone he wants to come home to each day and tell him about all the cool things we’ve done.
I want to feel good in my clothes, no need to be a super model, but just FEEL GOOD in what I’m wearing.
So they say it takes 2 – 3 weeks to make something a habit, I’m giving myself 4. Over the next month I am going to be getting back to the basics and
prioritize what’s important. I need to be full and charged up if I am going to give anything worthwhile to my family and friends.
I am the example my children will learn from, I set the tone for our entire household, therefore:
- My spirit needs uplifting.
- My diet needs to be healthier.
- My body needs to work out.
- My home needs to be more efficient. (ie: cleaner and organized)
I’m not one to spend a lot of money, or money period. So getting my life back in order is not going to be about spending tons of money or buying a lot of expensive things, nope. This is about using what I have (in fact getting rid of a lot of it) to work for me.
I shall be passing on tips, tricks and ideas that are (or are not) working for me, this is a journey of experience, trial & error and adventure. And believe it or not I’m actually excited about this challenge.
I raise my cup of now quite cold coffee to you, here’s to getting through and conquering the next 4 weeks and moving onto excellence! I do hope you’ll join me.
I’ve created Getting Back to the Basics Label on the side so you can easily
